MSME / Udyam Registration
The cheapest registration with the biggest return.
Udyam registration is the government's official recognition of a micro, small or medium enterprise. It is free, permanent, and takes a day — yet it unlocks collateral-free lending, interest subvention, tender preference and a statutory right to be paid within 45 days. Very few registrations return this much for this little effort.

What MSME Registration is, and who it applies to
Udyam replaced the older Udyog Aadhaar system and is now the single MSME registration recognised across government schemes. It is entirely online, linked to your PAN and Aadhaar, and draws turnover and investment figures automatically from GST and income tax records.
Classification runs on two criteria — investment in plant and machinery, and annual turnover — with the enterprise falling into whichever category is higher. Following the 2025 revision, a micro enterprise is one with investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore; small runs to ₹25 crore and ₹100 crore; medium to ₹125 crore and ₹500 crore. The revised limits brought a large number of growing businesses back into the MSME net.
The benefit most owners underuse is the MSME Samadhaan provision. A registered MSME has a statutory right to payment within 45 days of accepting goods or services, and buyers who delay owe compound interest at three times the RBI bank rate. For a small supplier dealing with large corporate buyers, that clause is real leverage — and it only exists if you are registered.
Beyond that, registration gives access to collateral-free credit under the CGTMSE scheme, interest subvention on bank loans, exemption from earnest money deposits on government tenders, reimbursement of ISO certification costs, and preference in public procurement where a share of purchases is reserved for MSEs.
Who needs MSME Registration
- Manufacturers and service businesses of any size within the MSME limits
- Proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, private limited companies and OPCs
- Traders — now eligible for Udyam registration
- Startups seeking collateral-free working capital
- Suppliers to large corporates wanting the 45-day payment protection
- Businesses bidding for government tenders
Why it matters
Collateral-free loans
The CGTMSE scheme guarantees bank credit to MSMEs without security, which is often the difference between getting a loan and not.
Payment within 45 days
A statutory right enforceable through MSME Samadhaan, with compound interest at three times the RBI bank rate on delays.
Tender advantages
Exemption from earnest money deposit and reserved procurement quotas in central government purchasing.
Lower borrowing cost
Interest subvention schemes and preferential rates from most public sector banks.
Subsidy access
ISO certification reimbursement, patent and trademark fee subsidy, and electricity tariff concessions in several states.
Documents required
Scans on WhatsApp are fine. We check every document against the officer's checklist before filing.

Benefit walkthrough
We tell you which schemes you now qualify for and how to actually claim them — the part most providers skip.
What it costs
We do not publish a rate card, because the right fee depends on your entity type, turnover and how much of the groundwork is already done. Tell us what your business does and we will quote a fixed figure for your case — before you commit to anything.
We quote a fixed professional fee for your case before any work begins, and it excludes GST. Government fees, where applicable, are shown separately and paid directly to the department. Statutory fees and thresholds change by notification — we confirm the current position for your case before you commit.
MSME Registration — frequently asked questions
Is there any government fee for Udyam registration?
None. Udyam registration is completely free on the government portal. Any fee you pay is a professional fee for filing it correctly and advising on classification and benefits. Several websites charge a 'government fee' for this — there is no such thing, and it is worth knowing.
Does Udyam registration expire?
No. It is permanent and does not require renewal. Your classification is updated automatically each year from the GST and income tax data linked to your PAN, so the category can change as the business grows without any action from you.
Can traders register under Udyam?
Yes. Retail and wholesale traders were brought into the Udyam net and are now eligible, primarily for the purpose of accessing priority sector lending.
What are the current MSME classification limits?
Following the 2025 revision: micro is investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore; small is up to ₹25 crore and ₹100 crore; medium is up to ₹125 crore and ₹500 crore. An enterprise falls into whichever category is higher on either criterion.
How does the 45-day payment rule actually work?
Under the MSMED Act, a buyer must pay a registered micro or small enterprise within 45 days of accepting goods or services. If they do not, they owe compound interest at three times the RBI bank rate, and you can file on the MSME Samadhaan portal. Crucially, the buyer cannot claim that delayed payment as a deduction in their own tax return, which is what tends to get large buyers to settle.
I already have Udyog Aadhaar. Do I need to re-register?
Yes. Udyog Aadhaar is no longer valid and has been fully replaced by Udyam. If you have not migrated, your registration is not recognised for scheme benefits. We handle the migration.
