ISO Certification

Certification buyers and auditors actually recognise.

ISO certification demonstrates that your business runs to an internationally recognised management standard. It is frequently required in tenders and by corporate buyers — but only if the certificate comes from a properly accredited body, which is where a great deal of money gets wasted in this market.

What ISO Certification is, and who it applies to

The common standards are ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 22000 for food safety, and ISO 27001 for information security. Each sets out requirements for a management system, and certification confirms an independent auditor has verified you meet them.

There is an important distinction that the market deliberately blurs. Accredited certification comes from a body accredited under the International Accreditation Forum, through a national accreditation body such as NABCB in India. Non-accredited certificates are issued by bodies with no such oversight. They look similar, cost far less, and are routinely rejected by serious buyers and tender committees. We only arrange accredited certification, and we will tell you plainly when a cheaper quote you have received is for the non-accredited kind.

The process is not just paperwork. A gap analysis identifies where your current practice falls short of the standard. Documentation — policies, procedures, records — is then developed to match how you actually operate, not copied from a template. Staff are trained, the system runs for a period so there are records to audit, and the certification body conducts a two-stage audit before issuing the certificate.

Certificates run for three years, subject to annual surveillance audits. Those surveillance audits are real: certificates are suspended where the management system has been abandoned after the initial audit, which is a common outcome when certification was treated purely as a document to win a tender.

Who needs ISO Certification

  • Businesses bidding for government or corporate tenders
  • Manufacturers supplying to large OEMs
  • Exporters needing internationally recognised quality credentials
  • Food businesses requiring ISO 22000 or HACCP
  • IT and services companies needing ISO 27001 for client contracts
  • Organisations seeking MSME reimbursement of certification costs

Why it matters

Tender eligibility

Many government and corporate tenders list ISO certification as a mandatory qualifying criterion.

Export credibility

International buyers use ISO certification as a baseline screen on new suppliers.

Genuine process improvement

Done properly, the documentation exercise surfaces real inefficiencies — this is the part most businesses are surprised by.

MSME cost reimbursement

Registered MSMEs can claim reimbursement of a portion of certification costs under government schemes.

Documents required

Scans on WhatsApp are fine. We check every document against the officer's checklist before filing.

Business documents

  • Certificate of Incorporation or registration proof
  • PAN and GST registration
  • Udyam certificate, for reimbursement claims
  • Organisation chart and employee count
  • Scope of activities to be certified
  • Premises address and layout

System documents

  • Existing policies and procedures, where any
  • Process flow of core operations
  • Records of quality checks or inspections
  • Customer complaint and feedback records
  • Supplier evaluation records
  • Training records for staff

How we do it

  1. 1

    Standard selection

We determine which standard genuinely fits your business and what scope to certify — over-scoping is a common and expensive mistake.

  2. 2

    Gap analysis

Your current practice is assessed against the standard's clauses so you know exactly what has to change.

  3. 3

    Documentation

Manual, procedures and formats developed to reflect how your business actually works, rather than a generic template.

  4. 4

    Implementation and training

Staff trained, the system operated for a period, and an internal audit and management review conducted — all of which the auditor will look for.

  5. 5

    Certification audit

An accredited certification body conducts the stage one and stage two audits. We support you through both and handle any non-conformities raised.

What it costs

We do not publish a rate card, because the right fee depends on your entity type, turnover and how much of the groundwork is already done. Tell us what your business does and we will quote a fixed figure for your case — before you commit to anything.

We quote a fixed professional fee for your case before any work begins, and it excludes GST. Government fees, where applicable, are shown separately and paid directly to the department. Statutory fees and thresholds change by notification — we confirm the current position for your case before you commit.

ISO Certification — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between accredited and non-accredited ISO certification?

Accredited certification is issued by a body accredited under the International Accreditation Forum, typically through a national accreditation body such as NABCB. Non-accredited certificates come from bodies with no such oversight, cost a fraction as much, and are frequently rejected by tender committees and serious corporate buyers. If a quote seems remarkably cheap, this is almost always why. We arrange accredited certification only.

Which ISO standard do I need?

ISO 9001 for general quality management, which suits most businesses. ISO 14001 for environmental management, common in manufacturing. ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. ISO 22000 for food businesses. ISO 27001 for information security, increasingly demanded in IT and services contracts. If a tender specifies one, that settles it — otherwise we advise based on your sector and buyers.

How long is an ISO certificate valid?

Three years, subject to annual surveillance audits. If the surveillance audit finds the management system has been abandoned, the certificate can be suspended or withdrawn. Certification is not a one-time purchase.

Can MSMEs get the certification cost reimbursed?

Registered MSMEs can claim reimbursement of a portion of ISO certification expenses under government schemes. The scheme details and limits change from time to time, and we help with the claim as part of the engagement.

Do I need ISO certification to bid for tenders?

It depends on the tender. Many government and large corporate tenders list it as a mandatory qualifying criterion, particularly for manufacturing and services contracts. Check the specific tender document — and check which standard and whether accreditation is specified, because it usually is.

How much disruption does this cause to my business?

Less than most people fear, if the documentation is built around how you already work rather than imposed from a template. Expect a few days of staff time for training and internal audit, plus the certification audit itself. The businesses that find it painful are usually those trying to certify a scope far wider than they need.
