What GST Filing is, and who it applies to

A registered business files GSTR-1 for outward supplies and GSTR-3B as a summary return with payment. Businesses under the QRMP scheme — turnover up to ₹5 crore — can file quarterly while paying monthly, which cuts compliance effort considerably but is frequently set up wrong.

The expensive part of GST is rarely the tax itself. It is input tax credit lost because a supplier did not file their GSTR-1, so the invoice never appeared in your GSTR-2B. Credit that does not appear in 2B cannot be claimed. Chasing that down every month is tedious, and it is exactly the work most businesses skip until an audit.

Late filing attracts a fee of ₹50 per day per return, ₹20 per day for nil returns, plus interest at 18% per annum on unpaid tax. Persistent default leads to blocked e-way bills and eventually cancellation of registration — which means your buyers stop getting credit and quietly move to another supplier.

Businesses with turnover above ₹2 crore also file the GSTR-9 annual return, and those above ₹5 crore file GSTR-9C, a reconciliation statement. Both need the year's data to actually tie out, which is far easier when the monthly work was done properly in the first place.

Who needs GST Filing

  • Every GST-registered business, including those with no sales in a period
  • Businesses under the QRMP scheme filing quarterly
  • Composition dealers filing CMP-08 and GSTR-4
  • E-commerce sellers reconciling marketplace tax collected at source
  • Exporters claiming refunds on zero-rated supplies
  • Any business above ₹2 crore turnover needing GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C

Why it matters

Protect your input credit

We reconcile your purchase register against GSTR-2B every period and chase the suppliers whose filings are holding up your credit.

Zero late fees

We work to an internal deadline ahead of the statutory one, and you get reminders well before anything is due.

Audit-ready records

Your filings, challans and reconciliations stay organised, so a departmental notice is a half-hour job rather than a crisis.

Right scheme, right frequency

We check whether QRMP or monthly filing actually suits your cash flow instead of leaving whatever was set at registration.

Documents required

Scans on WhatsApp are fine. We check every document against the officer's checklist before filing.

Every filing period

  • Sales invoices for the period, or a sales register in Excel or Tally
  • Purchase invoices, or a purchase register
  • Debit and credit notes issued
  • Bank statement for the period
  • Details of any advances received
  • GST portal login credentials

For annual returns

  • Audited financial statements for the year
  • All twelve months of filed returns
  • Input tax credit ledger and reconciliation
  • HSN-wise summary of outward supplies

How we do it

  1. 1

    Share your data

Send invoices or an export from Tally, Zoho or Excel. A shared folder or WhatsApp both work — whatever you already use.

  2. 2

    Reconciliation

We match your purchases against GSTR-2B, flag missing supplier invoices and tell you exactly whom to chase.

  3. 3

    Draft for approval

You get a summary of tax payable and credit claimed before anything is filed. Nothing is submitted without your sign-off.

  4. 4

    File and pay

We file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B and generate the challan. You approve the payment.

  5. 5

    Confirmation

Filed returns and acknowledgements are sent to you and archived for audit.

What it costs

We do not publish a rate card, because the right fee depends on your entity type, turnover and how much of the groundwork is already done. Tell us what your business does and we will quote a fixed figure for your case — before you commit to anything.

We quote a fixed professional fee for your case before any work begins, and it excludes GST. Government fees, where applicable, are shown separately and paid directly to the department. Statutory fees and thresholds change by notification — we confirm the current position for your case before you commit.

What non-compliance costs

  • Late fee of ₹50 per day per return (₹20 per day for nil returns), capped per return
  • Interest at 18% per annum on tax paid late
  • Input tax credit denied where the invoice does not appear in GSTR-2B
  • E-way bill generation blocked after two consecutive defaults
  • Registration liable to cancellation after six months of continuous non-filing

GST Filing — frequently asked questions

What are the GST return due dates?

GSTR-1 is due on the 11th of the following month for monthly filers, and on the 13th after quarter-end under QRMP. GSTR-3B is due on the 20th for monthly filers, and on the 22nd or 24th for QRMP filers depending on your state group. Annual GSTR-9 is due by 31 December following the financial year. Dates occasionally shift by notification, and we track those.

What is the QRMP scheme and should I use it?

Quarterly Return Monthly Payment lets businesses with turnover up to ₹5 crore file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B quarterly while paying tax monthly through a simple challan. It cuts filing work by two-thirds. It suits most small businesses, but if your buyers need your invoices reflected monthly for their own credit, monthly filing can be the better commercial choice.

My supplier has not filed, so credit is missing from my GSTR-2B. What can I do?

Credit that does not appear in GSTR-2B cannot legally be claimed in that period. The practical route is to chase the supplier to file, after which the credit appears in a later 2B and can be claimed then, subject to the annual cut-off. We identify these every month and give you a list, because the longer it runs the harder it is to recover.

Do I need to file if I had no business in a month?

Yes. Nil returns are mandatory. The late fee for missing one is lower at ₹20 per day, but it accrues and non-filing eventually triggers cancellation proceedings.

Can late fees be waived?

Only when the government announces an amnesty scheme, which happens occasionally and always with a window. There is no routine waiver on request. The reliable approach is not to incur them.

Do you handle GST notices and departmental scrutiny?

Yes. Notices under ASMT-10 for return scrutiny, DRC-01 for demands and reconciliation queries are all handled. For clients on our monthly plans, notices relating to periods we filed are included in the fee.
